Webinars of UX community

21 February, 2009

"Hi UX folks! It's Thirsday, 11 AM. Andrew Sikorsky is greeting all of you, connected to the UX Russa webinars channel for the 13th time! Dmitry Satin is in our studio to talk about "Mental processes of the interfaces. Part 1: Memory, attention and imagination" - says the USABILITYLAB senior interface designer, volunteering community coordinator and animator of the UX Russia community free educational program.

"It's 21 century, you know... Everything is possible with this broadband connection throughout Russia. You can make video calls, you can make interactive webinars. UX Russia (www.userexp.ru), born after the User Experience Russia 2008 conference, doubled in size from 500 to 1000 persons since we began webinars. People readily find an hour or so every Thursday in order to listen to a speaker and to share there knowledge and experience. I see them [participants] connected from all over the world, from USA to Sakhalin.

"This is awesome! I can talk to professionals who otherwise I would never meet because we live in different countries" - said one of the constant webinars participants.

"For many Russian UX specialists our webinars is the only way to learn more and to share their knowledge with peers, for there is no other formal UX education in the country and most of the UX state-of-the-art literature is in English. The usual number of on-line participants is not so big, around 30, which is good for it's easier to moderate them. But further watching of webinars recordings achieves sometimes more than 1500 times. This proves that topics of our webinars are really actual and demanded", - says Andrew Sikorsky

List of previous topics: How to make a readable document? Best practice of using diagrams; Accessibility: from social responsibility to practice; 10 ways to write awesome texts for interfaces; Approaches to interface navigation in web and desktop applications; Talking about the quality of the software package; Introduction to the flow condition; Usability evaluation on-line; Activity theory and ways to introduce it into practice; Usability of railway station self-service terminals; User-Centered Design: the basics; Uniting power of the UX; WUD - 2008

Webinar is a innovative and highly effective educational and sharing the experience form of interaction. As UX professionals we are to explore and promote new ways of people interaction. Next webinar will be on Mars 5, we will talk about how to write quick and effective interfaces' specifications.
